Farms for the Future released with very positive initial response


In September 10th, the SAN Secretariat publicly launched its "Farms for the Future" program with a series of meetings with key companies and stakeholders  in Europe, the release of a set of information in its website and social media, and the support of many SAN members in their own countries.

Initial engagements included Neumann Foundation, Edeka, Rewe, German Juice Association, COOP, Ferrero, Ritter-Sport, Nestlé, Nespresso, RSPB, PepsiCo, Innocent and Reckitt Benckiser (RB), and we got very positive feedback on the program.

Most of the companies and stakeholders said that the program makes sense in the current context and they liked the idea of a flexible approach, local partners, farmer involvement and focus on impact. The possibility of doing pilots was mentioned in some of the meetings.

One of the challenges identified is the need of expanding the SAN reach by having more local members able to implement the program.

As a result of the meeting with the German Juice association, SAN was invited to present the program at the next European Juice CSR meeting.

During September, and through our website and social media thousands of people looked for information about "Farms for the Future", that is a program designed to generate a positive impact on the ground by supporting producers to achieve specific sustainability objectives and providing transparency about their performance.
