Building relationships in Asia
The SAN Executive Director, Andre de Freitas, met in June with staff from WildAsia, a Malaysian not for profit social enterprise working with capacity building for smallholders and companies, often supporting them in their progress towards different certification schemes.
WildAsia also conducts strategic social, environmental and biodiversity assessments to guide companies in their sustainability efforts. Their strategy is to build the capacity within companies, resulting in the development of their own, sustainable management system, which can directly tackle various social and environmental issues. The sectors where they currently focus their work are palm oil, tourism, and sustainable buildings. (http://www.wildasia.org/)
The Secretariat now evaluates Wild Asia's profile and the value it could bring to the organization.
