CIFOR-ICRAF is particularly prominent in Asia and Africa, with a growing presence in Latin America. CIFOR’s headquarters are located in Bogor, Indonesia, while ICRAF has its main office in Nairobi, Kenya. They have offices in 27 countries.

CIFOR-ICRAF offers research and science-based practical solutions to tackle global environmental and development challenges; from climate change and biodiversity loss to food security, livelihoods and inequality.

Mission Statement

CIFOR-ICRAF aims to harness the power of science and innovation to improve the benefits that forests, trees, soils and their sustainable management can provide to all of humankind, for a more resilient, equitable and prosperous future.

Work Scope

Connecting science with action to harness the catalyzing effect of trees and forest landscapes, CIFOR-ICRAF works at the intersection of climate change, biodiversity and food security with value chains and equity.


Through inclusive partnerships, demand-driven innovation and participatory research approaches that create solutions from the ground up, among its work areas CIFOR-ICRAF prioritizes sustainable agriculture transformation, climate resilience, and community empowerment.
