Geographic Scope
CORAF works in 23 countries in West and Central Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome et Principe, and Togo.
CORAF - West and Central Africa Council for Agricultural Research and Development
CORAF is an international non-profit association working to enhance prosperity, food, and nutrition security in West and Central Africa. The objective of CORAF is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of smallholder farmers and promote the agribusiness sector.
Mission Statement
CORAF’s mission is to improve livelihoods in West and Central Africa through sustainable increases in agricultural production and productivity, promoting competitiveness and markets.
Work Scope
The main functions of CORAF are to:
1. Coordinate the NARS of the 23 countries, encourage planning and common financial and administrative systems, harmonize sources, support programs aligned with FAAP principles.
2. Strengthen the capacity of the NARS, create and maintain expertise, promote institutional strengthening, and develop skills.
3. Undertake advocacy, facilitate the adoption of strategic options and the implementation of policies, advocate for the mobilization of financial resources.
4. Manage agricultural knowledge, convert information into knowledge, and establish mechanisms to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge.
CORAF's priority interventions domains are: agriculture, food and nutrition security; policy, institutions, markets and trade; and gender, youth and social equity.
