This week, members of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) brought to life stories of regeneration, innovation, and inclusion — from soil renewal in Indonesia to climate foresight in Colombia and nature-positive pest control across continents. Their work keeps showing how grounded actions and collective purpose can reshape the food systems that nourish both people and planet.

Innovating with Nature

CABI continued to demonstrate how science can power practical change. In Vietnam, improved pest diagnosis and nature-based control measures are helping farmers sustain productivity while protecting biodiversity. Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, biocontrol releases against invasive aquatic weeds showcased scalable, ecosystem-friendly approaches to pest management.

CORAF advanced agricultural innovation across West and Central Africa through ongoing CAADP-XP4 collaborations and preparations for the upcoming MITA 2025 in Mali — a major regional platform for technology exchange and agricultural entrepreneurship.

As part of the CAADP-XP4 program, CORAF is received representatives from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for a strategic working session.

Climate Voices and Local Leadership

In Colombia, Fundación Natura brought communities, scientists, and decision-makers together through Somos Clima, a dialogue series exploring how Cali’s climate could evolve over the next century. The event fostered collective reflection and gender-responsive approaches to climate resilience, turning data into inclusive action.

In Indonesia, Kaleka turned attention underground — emphasizing soil repair and fertility restoration as essential steps toward healthier crops and water systems. The organization’s work highlighted the quiet power of soil stewardship in sustaining livelihoods and landscapes.

PELUM Uganda kickstarted their celebrations of 30 years of impactful work. Last week they continued to deliver their mission by training member organizations (ActionAid, RCA and EADEN) and Community Natural Resource Monitors (CNRM) on Extractives, Natural Resource Governance and Environmental Justice. Sessions focused on extractives, governance, and equity in natural resource management, strengthening local leadership for sustainable land use across Uganda.

Sustainable Markets and Regenerative Economies

Preferred by Nature and WWF launched a joint global platform designed to simplify the growing landscape of digital supply chain tools. The initiative helps companies ensure deforestation-free sourcing, uphold labor rights, and safeguard food safety — advancing transparency from farm to consumer.

Rainforest Alliance illustrated regeneration in action, spotlighting Guatemalan communities in the Maya Biosphere who have reduced deforestation by 90% while generating $15 million annually through sustainable forestry and farming. Their story, alongside the organization’s global network of over half a million coffee farmers restoring soil and wildlife, underscored how livelihoods and ecosystems can thrive together.

Finance That Serves Life

The Circular Bioeconomy Alliance expanded the conversation on sustainability finance through its essay Designing for Life: Reimagining Nature Finance. By reframing investment as a commitment to ecological integrity, it offered a vision of financial systems that work in harmony with — rather than against — nature’s cycles.

A Living Network

From Asia to Latin America, SAN members this week embodied the momentum of transformation — pairing scientific rigor with local wisdom, and translating shared principles into tangible impact. Their collective efforts remind us that lasting change grows from the ground up, where innovation meets care, and where every seed of action contributes to a more regenerative future.
