Certification auditors and assurance bodies (clear FSS training and tools); standards owners (consistent field implementation); and producers/communities indirectly (more reliable Right-to-Food compliance assessments).

About the project

To strengthen the Food Security Standard (FSS)—a best-practice add-on ensuring the Right to Food alongside existing certifications—SAN designed the auditor training concept, built the course curriculum and materials, and delivered training so auditors could correctly interpret the FSS and assess compliance. This work supported effective, consistent implementation of the FSS developed by WWF, Welthungerhilfe, and ZEF.

Outcomes

The project delivered a reusable training concept for future FSS rollouts, along with all supporting documents and materials to implement it. SAN also designed a two-day auditor course aligned to that concept, equipping auditors to apply the Food Security Standard consistently and credibly in the field.
