In this mid-June edition of “Agriculture in Action,” we spotlight how SAN network members are addressing global agricultural challenges through innovation, local engagement, and knowledge sharing. The diversity of initiatives—from community-based reforestation to advanced pest management and digital education—demonstrates the breadth and strength of SAN’s global impact network.
🌱 Empowering Communities Through Local Action
ABIODES launched a Festival of Local Products in Mozambique, enhancing market access for local producers, while supporting school garden education at Quisse Mavota Secondary School.

In Mexico, Pro Natura Sur enriched its arboretum and engaged university students in planting over 600 native trees.

Rural Aid Pakistan reinforced its commitment to safe food and climate-resilient agriculture on World Food Safety Day. Fundación Pachamama kicked off its #PachaEmprende program with a bootcamp to support sustainable business model design.

🌍 Driving Innovation and Sustainability in the Field
CORAF continued to scale up agricultural resilience in West and Central Africa. It featured the hormone-free “YY supermale tilapia” in Togo and launched a PhD scholarship initiative under the Food Systems Resilience Program.
CABI highlighted threats like Cassava Brown Streak Disease and pests in tea and chilli crops, while promoting integrated pest management and biocontrol solutions. Its presence at the #GSDcongress underlined the importance of digital learning in rural areas.
🌾 Transforming Agriculture Through Regenerative Practices
CottonConnect showcased how biochar is turning cotton waste into a soil-enhancing solution and stressed the importance of soil health assessment before planting. Its representation at the Better Cotton Conference emphasized digital inclusion for farmers.
Fundación Natura Colombia spotlighted agroecological efforts aligned with Target 10 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The organization also participated in SAN’s General Assembly, contributing insights from its biodiversity conservation work.
Wild Asia continued its efforts to communicate the power of storytelling alongside its support for sustainable palm oil producers in Malaysia. Journalists visited MSPO-certified smallholders in its WAGS network to learn about their sustainability journey.

📚 Global Thought Leadership and Knowledge Exchange
Preferred by Nature hosted events in Ukraine and China to deepen understanding of the EU Deforestation Regulation and supply chain certification. It also released an updated EUDR Scoping Tool to help businesses meet sustainability compliance.
Imaflora co-hosted Brazil’s 4th Future of Agriculture Forum and participated in SAN’s Annual Meeting in Indonesia, further reinforcing the role of ESG certifications and stakeholder engagement.
Earth Net Foundation and Fundación Global Nature celebrated the close of the school year by recognizing biodiversity garden initiatives and reaffirming their roles within SAN’s global impact network.
RAAA Perú shared policy critiques, educational initiatives, and agroecological approaches while representing Peruvian experience in the SAN General Assembly. Its call for reduced agrochemical use aligned with its grassroots efforts to promote safer food and family farming.
What a week!
Across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, SAN member organizations are bridging global sustainability goals with grassroots action. From regenerative farming to policy advocacy and digital innovation, these updates reflect the collective strength of our network and the importance of continuous collaboration.
