The Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) is proud to showcase the dynamic work of its global members, whose local actions continue to deliver impact aligned with our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. These stories from across the globe exemplify SAN’s commitment to regenerative, climate-smart agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and empowered farming communities.
🐛 Pest & Disease Management for Resilient Crops
Sustainable pest management continues to be a major focus for SAN members. CABI is leading on multiple fronts. They joined a 25-partner EU initiative to address the invasive fall armyworm, a growing threat to maize and food security across Europe and Africa. The organization also shared guidance on the dangers of late blight in potatoes and tomatoes and the spread of parthenium weed, one of the world’s worst invasive plants. These efforts align closely with SAN’s goal to scale nature-based solutions through integrated pest management.

🌾 Climate-Smart Agriculture & Technological Innovation
Across the network, members are advancing climate-resilient solutions. CABI partnered with INIA Chile and the Croda Foundation to support 300 smallholder potato farmers with sustainable growing practices. They also continued championing digital training for cotton farmers in Pakistan in collaboration with Better Cotton, combining agritech and sustainable methods for better outcomes.

In West Africa, CORAF conducted a multi-country study on agricultural advisory tools under the Food System Resilience Program. This work helps improve access to knowledge and decision-making support for farmers adapting to climate change.
🐄 Regenerative & Biodiversity-Friendly Farming
Fundación Global Nature and Fundatia ADEPT are promoting farming models that restore ecosystems and strengthen local economies. Regenerative livestock systems that can enhance soil, biodiversity, and profitability where an important topic this fortnight both in Spain and Romania. Fundatia ADEPT also launched the first workshop of the Farmbionet project, a key step toward building Romania’s national network for biodiversity in agriculture.

📚 Farmer Training, Education & Knowledge Exchange
Empowering farmers remains central to SAN’s mission. In Mozambique, Abiodes conducted agroecology and food safety training using their participatory FAP methodology. They also hosted a community fair, the Festival of Earth Products, promoting local, sustainable food systems.
Preferred by Nature facilitated a cross-border learning exchange for 39 stakeholders from Indonesia to Vietnam’s Mekong Delta as part of the Low Carbon Rice project. Participants explored policies and practices for reducing emissions in rice production.

In South America, Fundación Natura Colombia continued its work on ecological restoration and local governance, participating in the Regeneradores Summit in Cali and sharing strategies for restoring Andean landscapes, while Fundación Pachamama advanced a comprehensive strategy for top-quality, sustainable production of Amazonian vanilla. A greenhouse was inaugurated this June in collaboration with the Pastaza Prefecture, with the goal of providing local producers with high-quality, resilient plants and access to local markets.

🧑🌾 Gender Equality & Social Inclusion in Agriculture
In Uganda, PELUM celebrated the achievements of the African Women Leaders in Agroecology (AWOLA) program, spotlighting women-led innovation in sustainable agriculture.

Fundación Pachamama joined an AECID and Fundación COPADE initiative to highlight sustainable products through the Chakra Amazónica label. The project is expected to support over 800 Kichwa producers in Ecuador, and Fundación Pachamama will focus on the gender aspect of the value chain, promoting the development of women leaders among the farmers.
And this is just the beginning…!
These updates show how SAN members are addressing SAN’s strategic goals: enhancing biodiversity, supporting climate-smart innovation, empowering communities, and strengthening local-to-global networks. The actions taken over just two weeks demonstrate the powerful potential of collective, localized efforts to achieve global sustainability goals.
🌱 Join SAN in amplifying these successes and building a future where agriculture heals and nourishes our extraordinary planet.
