Joana joined SAN in January 2025 as Grantwriter, bringing her expertise in crafting compelling proposals and managing end-to-end proposal development for institutional donors and foundations. She contributes to SAN’s mission by identifying strategic funding opportunities, designing impactful technical solutions, and fostering strong partnerships across the organization and its global network. Joana has extensive experience in grant writing and project management for international development, conservation, and human rights initiatives. Her professional background includes roles as Grants & Fundraising Manager at APOIAR, Public Fundraising Coordinator at ANP|WWF, and International Project Portfolio Coordinator at IPS, where she led diverse international projects, including those focused on sustainable development, environmental rights, and gender empowerment. Joana holds a Double Master’s Degree in Politics and Government in Africa and the Global South from Sciences Po Bordeaux and the University of Coimbra. She has also completed certifications in ESG Reporting, Proposal Writing, and Social Project Design. Currently based in Coimbra, Portugal, Joana is passionate about driving innovative solutions that balance social, environmental, and economic impacts.
