Poni Rose Boison

ESG Programming Regional Manager – Africa, Middle East, and Asia (AMEA)

Poni Rose Boison is a development professional with over 13 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, rural development, and climate resilience across East and Greater Horn of Africa. As ESG Programming Regional Manager at SAN, she leads the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) across programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

She has led high-impact, donor-funded initiatives with organizations such as USAID, DAI Global LLC, WFP, AGRA, FAO, and Christian Aid, supporting inclusive, community-driven programs that have reached more than 50,000 small holder farmers and vulnerable households. Her expertise spans sustainable food systems, climate-smart agriculture, gender-responsive programming, and stakeholder capacity building.

Poni holds an MSc in Agriculture and Development from the University of Reading, UK, and a BSc in Agricultural Land Use and Management from Makerere University, Uganda. She has also undertaken additional training in food systems, policy, and value chains.

Poni is passionate about inclusive development and enjoys mentoring, community engagement, and advancing innovation in rural economies.
